Investing in sustainable fashion starts with farms
What advice I gave impact investors during a webinar I spoke at

A while ago I was invited to speak to an audience of women in impact investing, together with the incredible founder of Queen of Raw, Stephanie Benedetto.
At one point I was asked what recommendation I had for impact investors looking into sustainable fashion. My answer apparently was far from what the audience had expected.
I straight up told to put their money into sustainable agriculture.
Fashion has its roots in farms. Without farms, we wouldn’t have cotton or linen in our wardrobes.
It’s the stakeholder that is often overlooked, yet vital in the existence of this behemoth of an industry.
The reason why I am so passionate about sustainable farming is because there is a direct positive effect in countering global boiling that can be made at the farm level.
I can only speak from experience and expertise acquired from all my nerdy endeavours - so here it goes.
By supporting farmers in optimizing their sustainable practices such as biodynamic farming, carbon is sequestered - stays in the soil - where life of plants flourishes.
In a nutshell this comes down to the realization that healthy farms support a healthier environment. Clean clothes (i.e. free of toxins) and clean air. Oh and of course no more landfills. That’s my dream. Thank you.
Until the next one!
